The excursion will be in two parts, beginning with a 45-minute guided outside walking tour of the restored buildings including the Chateau St. Louis with its beautiful furniture, tapestries and paintings. Free time to explore this fascinating site on your own ; live the experience of a day in 1744 as you stroll the lively streets, perhaps stopping for a snack. Place Royal is the heart of the lower town and was the site of Champlain’s first settlement and is also the location of the oldest standing catholic church in North America, Notre-Dame-des Victoires. You will then reach Cap Diamant for a photo stop opportunity ; this place takes its name after the shiny stones explorer Jacques-Cartier mistook for diamonds.
