This afternoon, head to Cabo da Roca, the western-most point of mainland Europe, offering dramatic cliffs and Atlantic views. Then continue along the coast to elegant Cascais, once a humble fishing village turned seaside retreat for nobility. Enjoy a walk along the marina and time to explore its shops and cafés. Arrive in Lisbon, Portugal’s capital, and check in at the upscale H10 Duque de Loulé Hotel. This evening, enjoy a rooftop drink (weather permitting) and dinner at the hotel. DAY 8 • LISBON SIGHTSEEING » BELÉM » TASTING OF “PASTERL DE BELÉM” THURSDAY: Explore Lisbon’s vibrant streets on a guided walking tour. Begin at Marquês de Pombal Square, then stroll down the tree-lined Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon’s answer to the Champs-Élysées. Visit Rossio Square, the bustling heart of the city, and wander into Alfama, the oldest district in Lisbon, where narrow lanes echo with the sounds of traditional Fado music. In the afternoon, travel by coach to Belém, the riverside district linked to Portugal’s Age of Discovery. End the day with a visit to the original Pastéis de Belém bakery—home to the world-famous custard tart, served warm and flaky since 1837. Dinner is on your own this evening. Explore the capital’s rooftop bars or cozy taverns—your tour leader will offer excellent suggestions. DAY 9 • CORK FACTORY » ÉVORA » FAREWELL DINNER WITH FADO SHOW FRIDAY: Today, explore the Alentejo region, beginning with a visit to a cork factory, where you’ll discover why Portugal produces over half the world’s cork and how it’s used in everything from wine stoppers to fashion. Continue to Évora, a beautifully preserved UNESCO city rich in Roman, medieval, and Baroque heritage. Wander cobblestone streets, admire Roman ruins, and visit the haunting Capela dos Ossos (Chapel of Bones), whose walls are lined with thousands of human bones—a powerful reminder of life’s impermanence.
