First stop: Aveiro, o©en called the “Venice of Pougal” for its canals and coloul boats. Take a scenic ride aboard a traditional Moliceiro, and don’t miss the local specialty, ovos moles , a sweet treat wrapped in rice paper. Continue to Costa Nova, famous for its candy- striped fishing coages, peect for a photo stop. Next, travel to Coimbra, Pougal’s former capital and home to one of Europe’s oldest universities. Visit the majestic Joanina Library, a Baroque masterpiece that holds centuries-old books— protected by a colony of bats that eat the paper- destroying insects!
