We enjoy our first breakfast in beautiful Lake Garda and are off on our adventure to discover Verona with our local guide. Verona exudes the feeling of the never ending love of Romeo and Juliet. In honor of its many historical buildings, Verona has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The city of Verona is famous for its Roman Amphitheater, the third largest after the Colosseum in Rome and still used for operas and other cultural entertainment. It is a city that harmoniously blends its ancient treasures, with its contemporary ones. We will have some time to enjoy Verona on our own. Later in the afternoon we enjoy a cooking class and discover the secrets of some delicious local dishes. We then get to eat the delicious food we have prepared. Then it is back to the hotel for the evening. (B,D-cooking class)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Today we will start our discovery of Lake Garda. It is the largest of all the pre-alpine lakes, enchanting visitors with its picturesque villages, medieval castles, and lakeside promenades. We will visit Sirmione; its magic atmospheres were in Catullus poems in first century before Christ. Catullus was born here and probably lived in the beautiful villa on the extreme tip of Sirmione peninsula. It was the biggest Roman villa in Northern Italy and its impressive remains can be admired. After we take a short cruise to explore the southern shore of the lake, we get to see the charming little towns and the green countryside as well as the majestic mountains. We will also discover the areas around the lake which are also famous for wine production.
In the evening we will visit a local winery Possessioni Serego Alighieri . It is located in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica district, surrounded by green hills and just a few kilometers from the historic city center of Verona and the beauty of Lake Garda. In 1353, the charming Tenuta (estate), which was already famous for the quality of its vineyards, was bought by Pietro Alighieri, son of Dante the Poet, who had followed his father into exile in Verona. We will visit the estate and then enjoy dinner in the Salone degli archi tasting the wine. After dinner Giada’s Concert will be held in the Sala della Corte. (B,D)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. We check out and transfer to Venice. Stopping enroute to visit Vicenza, known worldwide as “Palladio City”, one of the most important art centers in Italy. Thanks to the genius of Andrea Palladio, one of the most influential architects ever, the city, together with the Villas built in the surrounding territory, became a real open-air architecture museum. Our walking tour begins with a fascinating walk of the historical center that Palladio transformed with his imposing civic buildings, basilicas and aristocratic residences. Our guided tour includes the Palladio’s Basilica in the central Piazza dei Signori, and a visit of the Olympic Theatre. We will have the chance to have a panoramic of Villa Rotonda (exterior), Palladio’s most celebrated work; its temple like facades, its symmetry along with its natural setting, give the villa and air of splendid perfection. After lunch at a local restaurant we proceed to Venice our home for the next four nights. Venice is a magical tapestry of Renaissance buildings perched on narrow canals with sleek gondolas gliding silently beneath ornate bridges that will leave us breathless. Gondolas drift along, not just for show, but to deliver the staples of everyday life. We will also arrive into Venice by boat as there are no cars allowed. Check in at our centrally located Hotel Bonvecchiati 4* or similar. Evening at leisure .(B,L)
After breakfast we depart to discover the Venetian lagoons. Board our private motorboat and depart to visit the lagoon islands of Murano & Burano. We reach Murano which is famous around the world for its glassmaking, a skill that its citizens have been honing since the 10th century. We reach a prestigious studio (Seguso Glass) and we learn the secrets of the Maestri Vetrai, the art of glass blowing passed from generation to generation.
After, we proceed to the picturesque Burano, world famous for lace works. Enjoy time at leisure in the quaint island; see brightly painted buildings and flowerpots, a paradise for photo lovers. Enjoy lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon back to Venice. Evening at leisure. (B,L))
After breakfast we will take a guided tour starting from Piazza San Marco. We will see the majestic Doge’s Palace & Giotto’s Bell Tower. We will visit St. Mark’s Basilica, a marble and golden wonder built to display the relics of a saint. Enjoy the rest of the day on our own to explore “La Serenissima”.
