Our 10-day tour of Spain and Portugal is overflowing with rich cultural and historical experiences. We explore iconic cities like Barcelona, Madrid, Porto and Lisbon and enjoy scenic landscapes such as the Douro Valley. The itinerary includes luxurious accommodations, gourmet meals, wine tastings, and even a short river cruise!
Itinerary
FRIDAY - As you cross the Atlantic, picture yourself strolling ancient streets lined with artists and palm trees, admiring the surreal spires of Gaudí’s masterpieces, and savoring tapas under twinkling lights. Because tomorrow, we land in one of Europe’s most colorful and creative cities, Barcelona!
SATURDAY - Welcome to Barcelona, where the Mediterranean breeze, Gothic charm, and modernist genius all coexist beautifully.
After arrival we will enjoy a panoramic tour, enjoying the beautiful sights and sounds of Barcelona. Meander down Barcelona’s most famous boulevard - La Rambla - where flower stalls, street musicians, and cafés set a vibrant tone.
Tonight, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner in our hotel to toast the beginning of our journey together.
Included: Dinner
SUNDAY – Today, we’ll visit the iconic Sagrada Família, a basilica like no other, whose fantastical towers and symbolism continue to evolve over a century after construction began. Later, we’ll wander through the Gothic Quarter, where narrow alleys reveal hidden courtyards and centuries-old churches.
Rest of the day is on your own. Maybe be inspired by the genius of Gaudi. Visit on your own La Pedrera (Casa Mila), whose swirling stone façade and rooftop chimneys are architectural poetry.
Included: Breakfast
MONDAY - This morning, we grab the 1-hour flight from Barcelona to Madrid. A panoramic city tour introduces us to Madrid’s grand boulevards, leafy parks, and historic monuments. Stroll through Retiro Park, admire the Puerta de Alcalá, and pass by Serrano Street, one of the city’s most elegant shopping avenues.
Then, we step inside the opulent Royal Palace, where baroque ceilings, tapestries, and gilded salons give us a glimpse into Spain’s regal past. Enjoy the evening exploring the pulse of Madrid at your own pace.
Included: Breakfast
TUESDAY - Today we journey back in time with a full-day excursion to Segovia, one of Spain’s most picturesque towns. Stand beneath the awe-inspiring Roman aqueduct, an engineering marvel that has towered over the city for nearly 2,000 years. Walk through the old town’s charming streets to discover the majestic Cathedral of Segovia, known as the “Lady of the Cathedrals.”
Finally, we’ll explore the fairy tale-like Alcázar, a turreted castle perched on a rocky bluff—rumored to have inspired Disney’s Cinderella Castle.
Upon our return to Madrid, we will enjoy an evening of authentic Spanish culture at a flamenco dinner show.
Included: Breakfast, Dinner
WEDNESDAY - Today we take a short 40-minute hop to Portugal and arrive in the historic and soulful city of Porto, set along the Douro River. We begin with a walk through the medieval Ribeira district.
Our introduction to Portugal’s second largest city, will be through a cruise along the narrow river Douro with spectacular views of the two cities, Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, born in front of each other, and passing under the six bridges that bring them together.
Later, we are all invited to visit the wine cellar of one of the most prestigious brands of Port and taste some of their wines. Maybe enjoy the rest of the late afternoon by strolling along the boardwalk near the hotel and shop for souvenirs in the local street markets.
Included: Breakfast
THURSDAY - We begin the day enjoying the views of the commanding Sé Cathedral, Porto’s oldest and most important religious site.
Next, one of the most beautiful train stations in Europe - São Bento - where thousands of hand-painted tiles depict Portugal’s amazing history. We’ll also walk down Rua das Flores, lined with pastel-colored buildings, local boutiques, and cafés.
To end our morning, we explore the ornate Palácio da Bolsa, once a hub of Portuguese commerce, followed by a visit to the richly decorated Church of São Francisco, a masterpiece of baroque style.
Enjoy free time this afternoon to explore at your own pace. Perhaps stroll through Ribeira, shop for cork and ceramics, or visit the world’s most beautiful bookstore, Livraria Lello. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy all that the beautiful city of Porto has to offer.
Included: Breakfast
FRIDAY - Today’s journey south offers two unforgettable stops. First is Tomar, home to the Convent of Christ, a fortress-monastery once used by the legendary Knights Templar. Then we continue to Óbidos, a walled medieval village filled with cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses, and vibrant bougainvillea.
After arriving in Lisbon, tonight we will enjoy a special dinner with Fado, Portugal´s hauntingly beautiful traditional music.

From there, enjoy a scenic drive along the wild Atlantic coast, stopping to view Cape Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe. Our final stop is the elegant seaside resort town of Cascais, where palm-lined promenades and sandy coves await.
Afterwards, we’ll explore Lisbon with a visit to Jerónimos Monastery Church and stop to admire Belém Tower, and the striking Monument of the Discoveries—all tributes to Portugal’s Age of Exploration.

Just returned from the Spain trip. It was was our first Perillo tour and was amazing! Jeanette, our tour guide, and all the local guides were fantastic. It was so much fun to learn about the history and beauty of Spain and it was better than we could have imagined.
Mr. M.S.
We went to Spain with Perillo this past April. Outstanding!! Wished we’d had more time at a couple of places, but there was more to see and do. Everything was top notch, and Perillo takes good care of you. Can’t say enough good things about this trip!
