If you happen to be of Sicilian heritage, you'll be surprised by how the 'old country' has very much joined the 21st century while retaining its special charm.
Itinerary
FRIDAY - Boarding your overnight flight, you’re off on the adventure of a lifetime!
SATURDAY - Benvenuti a Roma, the eternal city! We are pleased to offer complimentary transfers from Rome airport to your hotel at scheduled times. Your Perillo representative will be at the airport to greet you.
This evening, you will meet your tour leader for a brief orientation and welcome drink. You’ll be free to enjoy dinner on your own tonight – be sure to ask your tour leader for suggestions.
SUNDAY - This morning, after breakfast, you will board a bus for a panoramic tour of Imperial Rome, including the Roman Forum, the Circus Maximus, and the Great Synagogue built in the heart of the Jewish quarter. After your tour, you will experience the Colosseum, reliving the brutal entertainment of the gladiators and the lions, judged by the Emperor himself. *** please remember to bring your ID (not a photocopy) to enter the Colosseum.
This evening, you will enjoy a fun dinner out at a local restaurant.
MONDAY - In the morning, after a delicious breakfast, you are off on a beautiful drive south to Pompeii. You will travel back in time to the fateful year of 79 A.D. A city perfectly preserved by the ash that rained down from Mt. Vesuvius, you’ll see the tragic fossils of people attempting to escape with their children and dogs. You’ll be amazed to see the streets, homes, and stores still perfectly intact.
Next, you will continue your journey to Amalfi, where you’ll check in to your beautiful hotel.
In the evening, you will enjoy an authentic Neapolitan dinner in the hotel.
TUESDAY - Take a ferry to the island of Capri and enjoy a private boat tour (weather permitting), including the Faraglioni and Grotta Bianca.
After free time to explore, return to Amalfi for an evening at leisure. Be sure to ask your tour leader for some restaurant recommendations.
WEDNESDAY - Today is all yours—no schedule, no rush—just pure freedom to enjoy this incredible town your way!
Whether you choose to dive into local culture, wander charming streets, discover hidden gems, or simply kick back and unwind by the hotel pool with a drink in hand, the day is yours to design.
THURSDAY - Travel south to Calabria and cross the Straits of Messina by ferry into Sicily. Arrive in the stunning hilltop town of Taormina, perched high above the sparkling Ionian Sea. With its jaw-dropping views of the coastline, dramatic vistas of Mount Etna, and a vibrant blend of history and culture, Taormina is pure Sicilian magic. Every corner feels like a postcard come to life!
Tonight, the evening is yours to explore. Wander the charming streets, find a cozy trattoria, and enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars—Sicilian-style.
*This will be a long day, so remember to wear comfortable clothes & shoes!
FRIDAY - Take a morning walking tour of Taormina, known as the “Jewel of Italy,” with views of Mt. Etna and visits to ancient theaters.
Then, the afternoon is all yours! Why not stroll the medieval streets lined with interesting little shops, take a dip in the hotel pool, or treat yourself to one of Sicily’s greatest inventions – the cannoli! It’s like heaven in your mouth!
In the evening, you will enjoy dinner and great Sicilian wine at a fine local restaurant.
SATURDAY - This morning, get ready for an unforgettable adventure to one of the world’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders— Mount Etna, one of the most active volcanoes on the planet! Visit the dramatic landscape of Mt. Etna, then head to a local winery for a tour, wine tasting, and light lunch.
Evening free to dine as you wish—try the local swordfish! It’s a local favorite and a true taste of Sicily’s coastal cuisine.
SUNDAY - Today, the adventure continues as you make your way to the vibrant capital of Sicily— Palermo!
But first, enjoy a captivating stop in the coastal gem of Cefalù, one of Northern Sicily’s most picturesque towns. With its golden beaches, medieval streets, and charming seaside vibe, Cefalù is a true feast for the senses. You’ll take a guided tour of the town’s stunning Norman cathedral, a 12th-century masterpiece that rises like a fortress over the old town.
Afterward, enjoy some free time to explore at your own pace.
Then it’s off to Palermo, a city bursting with energy, culture, and flavor!
Dinner tonight is on your own, so take the opportunity to try something truly local. And don’t forget to end your meal with a sweet slice of Cassata Siciliana—a traditional Palermo-born dessert.
MONDAY - This morning, you’ll visit Palermo’s cathedral and stroll through the vibrant Ballarò Market, one of the oldest street markets in Sicily, taking in an explosion of colors and scents of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and fish. See the Fontana Pretoria and the Quattro Canti.
The afternoon will be free to enjoy it as you please… perhaps to buy some last-minute gifts to take home with you. In the evening, you will enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
TUESDAY - In the morning, you will travel to Palermo airport for your flight home.
While you say “arrivederci” to Italy, you will certainly take a piece of it home with you, maybe some wine too! Arrivederci Bella Sicilia!

Just returned from the Vesuvious tour from 28 Aug to 6 Sep. What a wonderful experience! Would consider another Perillo tour for sure! The key to the great experience I had on this tour was largely through the efforts of your tour coordinator, Rosella.
Mr. & Mrs. J.A.
My wife and I took your tour in may. I just wanted to tell about the fantastic experience we had with our group and the exceptional guides at every venue. we were quick to learn the first day with Irenea that it wasn't just a job it was there passion and there life. All the guides Mauro, Max and the rest (that I can't remember their names) went beyond anything we could have expected. They made our trip worth every penny that we spent
