Itinerary

Day 1 - USA - Barcelona

TUESDAY - Depart the U.S. on an overnight flight bound for Spain. As you cross the Atlantic, picture yourself strolling ancient streets lined with artists and palm trees, admiring the surreal spires of Gaudí’s masterpieces, and savoring tapas under twinkling lights. Tomorrow, we land in one of Europe’s most colorful and creative cities—Barcelona.

Day 2 - Arrive in Barcelona

WEDNESDAY - Welcome to Barcelona, where the Mediterranean breeze, Gothic charm, and modernist genius all coexist beautifully. After arrival enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of Barcelona and get a first feel for the city’s lively heart. Meander down La Rambla, where flower stalls, street musicians, and cafés set a vibrant tone. Get your bearings, breathe in the sea air, and soak up the energy of this enchanting city. Our day today is on our own. B

Day 3 - Barcelona- Plaza Cataluna- Gothic Quarter

THURSDAY - Our first full day begins in Plaza Cataluna, a lively square that connects old and new Barcelona. As we walk the elegant Paseo de Gràcia, marvel at its blend of historic buildings and Gaudí’s signature whimsy.

Later, we’ll visit the iconic Sagrada Família, a basilica like no other, whose fantastical towers and symbolism continue to evolve over a century after construction began. Later, we’ll wander through the Gothic Quarter, where narrow alleys reveal hidden courtyards and centuries-old churches. Tonight, gather for a welcome dinner in a fine local restaurant to toast the beginning of our journey together. B,D

Day 4 - Barcelona-Parc Guell-Casa Mila

FRIDAY - Prepare to be inspired by the genius of Gaudí. We begin at Casa Milà (La Pedrera), whose swirling stone façade and rooftop chimneys are architectural poetry. Then it’s on to Park Güell, a playful, colorful park adorned with mosaic benches, fairytale pavilions, and sweeping city views. In the afternoon, we ascend Montjuïc Hill, where panoramic vistas of the harbor and cityscape await. This evening, we’ll enjoy a relaxing dinner in our 5 star hotel. B,D

Day 5 - Barcelona to Madrid

SATURDAY - This morning, we travel to Spain’s dynamic capital—Madrid—After arriving, a panoramic city tour introduces us to Madrid’s grand boulevards, leafy parks, and historic monuments. Stroll through Retiro Park, admire the Puerta de Alcalá, and pass by Serrano Street, one of the city’s most elegant shopping avenues. Then, we step inside the opulent Royal Palace, where baroque ceilings, tapestries, and gilded salons give us a glimpse into Spain’s regal past. Enjoy the evening exploring the pulse of Madrid at your own pace. B

Day 6 - Madrid-Day Trip to Segovia

SUNDAY - Today we journey back in time with a full-day excursion to Segovia, one of Spain’s most picturesque towns. Stand beneath the awe-inspiring Roman aqueduct, an engineering marvel that has towered over the city for nearly 2,000 years. Walk through the old town’s charming streets to discover the majestic Cathedral of Segovia, known as the “Lady of the Cathedrals.” Finally, we’ll explore the fairy tale-like Alcázar, a turreted castle perched on a rocky bluff—rumored to have inspired Disney’s Cinderella Castle. Upon our return to Madrid, we will enjoy an evening of authentic Spanish culture at a flamenco dinner show. B,D

Day 7 - Depart Madrid-Flight to Porto- River Cruise-Dinner

MONDAY - Today we take a short 40 minute hop to Portugal and arrive in the historic and soulful city of Porto, set along the Douro River. We begin with a walk down Rua das Flores, lined with pastelcolored buildings, local boutiques, and cafés. Explore the ornate Palácio da Bolsa, once a hub of Portuguese commerce, followed by a visit to the richly decorated Church of São Francisco, a masterpiece of baroque style. Then, we set sail on a tranquil river cruise, gliding past terracotta rooftops and bridges that link the city’s storied neighborhoods. Tonight, we will savor Portuguese flavors during dinner at a fine local restaurant. B,D

Day 8 - Porto- Port Wine Tasting

TUESDAY - We begin the day in one of the most beautiful train stations in Europe—São Bento, where thousands of hand-painted tiles depict Portugal’s history in brilliant blue and white. Continue to the commanding Sé Cathedral, Porto’s oldest and most important religious site. Enjoy free time this afternoon to explore at your own pace—perhaps stroll through Ribeira, shop for cork and ceramics, or visit the world’s most beautiful bookstore, Livraria Lello. To end our day, we’ll gather at a traditional wine cellar for a tasting of Porto’s most famous export—port wine.

The rest of the day is yours to enjoy all that the beautiful city of Porto has to offer. B

Day 9 - Porto to Lisbon via Tomar and Óbidos

WEDNESDAY - Today’s journey south offers two unforgettable stops. First is Tomar, home to the Convent of Christ, a fortress-monastery once used by the legendary Knights Templar. Then we continue to Óbidos, a walled medieval village filled with cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses, and vibrant bougainvillea. After arriving in Lisbon, we begin our exploration of the Portuguese capital with visits to Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, and the striking Monument of the Discoveries—all tributes to Portugal’s Age of Exploration. We’ll end our day tasting a warm, flaky Pastel de Nata, Portugal’s beloved custard tart! B

Day 10 - Lisbon-Sintra, Cascais, and the Atlantic Coast- Farewell Dinner

THURSDAY - This morning, we head into the lush hills of Sintra, a UNESCO-listed treasure. We visit the 16thcentury National Palace, once home to Portuguese royalty, and wander through the romantic town center. From there, enjoy a scenic drive along the wild Atlantic coast, stopping at Cape Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe. Our final stop is the elegant seaside resort town of Cascais, where palm-lined promenades and sandy coves await. Tonight, we gather for a farewell Fado dinner, where Portugal’s hauntingly beautiful traditional music sets the tone for a memorable goodbye. B,D

Day 11 - Lisbon to USA

FRIDAY -This morning, we transfer to the airport for our flight back to the United States. As we leave behind the vibrant colors of Spain and the soulful charm of Portugal, we take with us memories of royal palaces, medieval towns, coastal sunsets, and a journey that touched all the senses. B

format_quote Testimonials

We just returned from our 13 day trip to Spain with Perillo Tours and it was an amazing tour. Very informative and fun. All tour guides were very knowledgeable.

Our Tour Director Hugo did an excellent job and was patient with the entire group. The hotels and the food were very good.

Overall we had such a great time!

We are grateful we were able to experience such an amazing experience!

Mr. A.A.

My husband and I took the Perillo tour to Spain in April 2024. Everything was first class from the accommodations to the tours and especially the tour leader, Jeanette. Our group was small, 16, and Jeanette took the time to get to know each of us. The breakfast at each hotel was an amazing buffet. The group meals were all wonderful. Jeanette gave suggestions for shopping and dining outside of the planned activities. I give Perillo and a Jeanette an A+. We’ll definitely be doing another Perillo tour.

Ms. S.K.
